ulverston

Ulverston Photographic Society (UPS) are a club, with about thirty members who are very varied in experience and ability, with several holding membership of the Royal Photographic Society, and who have earned a range of photographic distinctions.
We are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, (PAGB) through our membership of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (LCPU).
In common with many other societies, our members have a wide variety of interests and specialities. Like many other clubs, we have experienced the inexorable switch to digital imaging, but many still prefer to stick with film, several of us operating chemical darkrooms.
We have a good measure of success in competitions, and are very proud to have won the South Lakelands Knockout Competition, despite some fierce opposition from the other participants, for the last three consecutive years.
Our program is a mix of competitions, external speakers and practical evenings. This year we have introduced a new feature whereby members can submit work, not for marking, or in a competitive environment, but for helpful and constructive advice from the more experienced members.
New members are always welcome. To give visitors a chance to see if they would like to join us, we allow three visits free of charge. After that, a visitors fee of £3 is payable, re-funded if they decide to become full members.

Our membership fees for 2009 have now been set as:
Single Membership - £32
Family Membership - £57
Under 25's Membership - £10
Visitors welcome at £3.00 per meeting

Meetings commence 7:30pm at the Parish Centre Churchwalk.
